Hi, I'm Lori! :)
Thank you for visiting

I'm from Monterey Park, California, and now I'm a senior at UCLA studying Cognitive Science.

Having a nurse as a mom taught me empathy and active listening, while my dad, a construction worker, instilled in me the belief that every problem has a solution and the importance of creativity. I'm grateful for how their perspectives and experiences have shaped my approach to UX design.

MY DESIGN philosophy
Designing with accessibility, inclusivity, and empathy at heart.
COMMUNICATION
Design is a tool for communication and storytelling, enabling me to empathize with users and create products that solve their problems and enhance their lives.
inclusivity & accessibility
Create inclusive, accessible spaces to build vibrant, sustainable communities, drawing inspiration from design history and learning from past errors.
advocacy & connection
l use design to bridge the gap between companies and users, advocating for user needs with stakeholders to ensure their voice is heard and valued in product creation.
lifelong learning
I value continuous learning about diverse communities and emerging technology, enriching my understanding and helping me design advanced, resonant solutions.

MY JOURNEY

Taking you all the way back!!!
2004 - 2020
Growing up, I remember teaching my mom how to navigate different interfaces on her phone. This experience helped me develop a knack for UX design and pushed me to create products and interfaces that are accessible and intuitive.
Aug. 2020 - Aug. 2022
I began my first job as a medical receptionist at an OB/GYN office, an experience I'll always cherish for transforming me from shy to sociable.

In 2022, I started community college as a Computer Science major, but soon discovered it wasn't the right fit for me. Despite this, I don't regret it, as it has since enabled me to work cross functionally with developers :)
Aug. 2022 - Aug. 2023
What a busy year!!!

As a tutor for students from elementary to high school, I developed an interest in Cognitive Science, exploring how people process information. This experience taught me how to break down information into digestible chunks.

As a waitress, my polyglot skills helped me connect with non-native English speakers, fostering comfortable environments and strong intercultural relationships. This experience enhanced my global perspective and awareness.

I started a small business selling crochet flower bouquets on multiple e-commerce platforms. This experience taught me valuable skills in market research, marketing, and customer engagement.

Sept 2023
I transferred to UCLA! This marked the beginning of a new chapter. I was determined to take advantage of all the resources and opportunities, but most importantly meet new people and build a community.

My friend Clara and I (right) at our first basketball game! Go Bruins!!! (we lost this game to USC)

Oct. 2023 - June 2024
I joined a product development club (UCLA DevX) and also started an internship, which became a major catalyst for my career. This further reinforced my passion for UX Design!!

I also did some freelance work for a lash extension business!

At Kardder, I redesigned their social media app to align the interface with their values and reinforce their brand identity.

March - June 2024
In the spring, I joined the Young Tech Professionals Bootcamp by Innovate @ UCLA as the lead designer. I learned to optimize our workflow with Agile methodologies and developed a business plan.
June 2024 - Present
I'm spending my summer at IBM, and I'm loving the infectious energy in meetings and the vibrant company culture. It's exciting to learn about design and research on a larger scale, and I'm truly inspired by the incredible people and the wealth of knowledge they bring.
